Story behind the song
Despite the title, this song is NOT about suicide, it is in fact about beating depression. The 'cruel world' in the title is a way of describing the feeling that some people experience when they think their life is worthless, that life is just too much for them. But when they realise that actually life is a wonderful thing they can say 'goodbye' to the cruel world that depression is.
