Christopher “jusCris” Ward was born August 22, 1986, in Newark, NJ. He grew up with only his mother and throughout his adolescence was forced to grow up quickly taking care of himself. In 1995, jusCris moved to Arlington, VA in Northern Virginia where is mother was able to find a steady job. Throughout his residence in Arlington, Ward was very much into playing different instruments and although he wanted passionately to play the saxophone his elementary school, Drew Model Elementary wasn’t able to purchase such an expensive instrument and he was forced to turn to the clarinet. After a few years he was able to pick up the saxophone, which he did almost instinctively, which resulted in the recognition of his talent by the band director and eventually landed him several solos during school performances at Science Focus Elementary. Along with playing woodwinds Ward also picked up a pair of drumsticks and mastered the drum set which unbeknownst to him would benefit him in his future endeavors. Ward’s love for the performing arts and playing music was undeniable. Most of his influences came from local producers Timbaland and The Neptunes. Ward doesn’t deny liking many other artist but these two were highly influential on his style and personal goals. As an amateur beat maker Ward would use a two deck tape recorder and a mini 44 key keyboard to make beats and rap in his spare time. When his friends were out roaming the streets and attending the occasional party , Ward would be composing and writing with no real intensions of becoming a real producer. Ward first began with rapping when Eunice Parker-Mann who wanted to do a duo in the Wakefield High School talent show. Parker-mann approached him after a band practice in 2002. Little did Ward know this would be the turning point in his life. His mother who recognized his ambitions one night brought home a beat machine for beginning producers and he then created his first professional beat with just a kick, snare and a bassline but this beat eventually won Ward and Parker-Mann a second place trophy in the talent show. Ward’s mother eventually took the machine back due to poor grades but that never stopped him when he discovered a program called Fruity Loops which he still uses and promotes to this day regardless of spectators and popular dislike of the beat making program. Throughout high school Ward would take time after school to stay in the A/V room to record songs and he release two mixtapes with all original production which gained him some popularity and recognition as a decent producer at the time. In 2004 Ward attended Virginia State University where he originally studied Computer Science then switched to Mass Communication(Radio & TV). His freshman year at VSU he attracted all sorts of artist at which he would collaborate with non-stop. He later on met Angelo “LoLo” Shepard a DC native who also produced music and went on to produce a the hit “the break up song” for Wale. Shepard later went on to create Monumental Musik, which at the time was a small venture but would eventually pay off. JusCris’ major influences include, Jay-Z, Common, Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Missy Elliot a lot of heavy hitters from the mid to late 90’s within the hip-hop/R&B genres. To this date Ward continues to produce music and has done collaborations with Stan Kelz, Lano, The Drop Boys , Wayne Morris and more. He is often compared to super producer Kanye West but prefers to be compared to his old self as he is currently building and recreating a new brand
