The Dead Sea Scribes are a socially conscious reggae-infused hip-hop trio located in Oakland, California. Most of their tracks are groove-oriented and down-tempo, the kind of music that makes folks sway and smile. Vocalists Josh Millican and Martin Arias, both L.A. natives, worked together previously as members of the One Over Crew. All beats and engineering are thanks to East Bay producer Manteka, originally from Puerto Rico. Steering clear of conventional hip-hop stereotypes, the Dead Sea Scribes are pioneering a brand new sound and ideology they have affectionately dubbed “Hemp Hop”.
