The highway part, and the Suicide part, I wrote, in '79. My brother, Steve, wrote "The Garden Still Awaits Us", back in '78. Steve passed away in 1979.

I'm a fifty nine year old musician. I play guitar, harmonica, and I sing.
My music, I hope, will not die when I die. I'm trying to create a legacy that my kids can listen to as well as other people should they want to. I'm getting pretty old, and my health is not good. But yeah. That about sums up my music thing. That looks more like an obituary. My brother Jimmy got me playing as a teenager, and he went to be with the Lord, as well as my brother Steve, but my love for music has not ceased. Not at all.

Story behind the song
"The garden still awaits us The forest in her glory Someday we will realize Mankind's stupid story Of Greed And I wonder how it ever got this way And I dream that there may someday dawn a day Of peace." My older brother Steve wrote this, a short song, a year or two before he died. Steve wasn't my oldest brother; Jimmy was. Anyway, since I saw this song, so beautiful, possibly prophetic, I incorporated it into more than one of my songs.
