Hey everybody! I'm Jerry Flattum, Performer/Songwriter. The recordings you are listening to are in Pre-Production, a fancier way of saying "demo." I'm currently working on getting up the financing to re-record and master several recordings in preparation for commercial release. Nothing drives me nuts more than knowing how these tunes will sound with new arrangements and a top notch mix/master. There's alot of color missing from the current recordings, but most of all guitar and backup vocals. Live drums and new keyboard samples will really bring the arrangement to life too. Two of the songs feature "hired guns" (session players). Tim Thompson did the guitar and mix on "My Little Girl," a Country/Rock ballad. Thompson is a finger style champion and when he let's loose on uptempo rockers he rivals the best pickers I've ever heard. Stephen Sea knocked out his own arrangement of "Best Place Around" and topped it off with some amazing guitar work. Virtual instruments and sampling technology will be heavily used in the new recordings. Once the recordings are finished, with sufficient financing and backing, I'm planning a global tour with a stage show that includes dancers, acting, stage design, lighting and costuming.

Story behind the song
"Survival" is originally from the musical, "Time Travelers In The Celestial Age." The story has since been converted into a sci-fi action/adventure screenplay and "Survival" has taken on a life of its own. The recording is in pre-production, being re-arranged and mastered in preparation for commercial release.
Lyrics
SURVIVAL Ya gotta be tough. Whether you're Chinese, Jew, black or white, ya gotta be ready to fight. We live in the rough. You may friendly, warm, nice or sweet, that's how ya get rolled in the street. Ya gotta be keen. Keep your wits. Stay out of the pits. But, don't be afraid to roll in the dirt - you're gonna get hurt! Ya gotta be mean. You may be grindin' out the 9 to 5, doin' whatever to stay alive... It's called SURVIVAL. Uh huh. SURVIVAL. Yeah. Burnin' a hole, way down in your soul, SURVIVAL. They're gonna be cruel. Calling you stupid, bum, creep or slob, or maybe you been called a snob? Break every rule - Whether you're woman, man, child or beast, ya gotta get ugly at least. Ya gotta be quick. Quick as a flick! Organized, solid and locked-tight. Systematized. A 100% right. You must be able to negotiate with style, and you never have to lose your smile. A smile is an added technique, looks good on a mean physique! It's called SURVIVAL. Uh huh. SURVIVAL. Yeah. Burnin' a hole, way down in your soul, SURVIVAL. INSTRUMENTAL SURVIVAL. Uh huh. SURVIVAL. Yeah. Turn the other cheek? Only for the meek. If ya gotta yell, go ahead - Scream! Your soul is bleedin', your eyes are black, ya feel like leavin' and never comin' back... Keep on fightin'. It's called SURVIVAL. Copyright 2010 Jerry Flattum
