Story behind the song
This is the second of two songs written during a period of unemployement...Lift Up The Father was the first. In a new town, car broke and in the shop, former employer fighting you for benefits, broke and broken hearted...when everything seems to be falling in around you, where would you go?
Lyrics
Where would we go without you? You have the words of life. Whom shall we seek if not you? You are our Lord, the Christ. The words that you teach us are hard to hear, But they are true. They are you. Your body for manna, Your blood to drink, And those who eat will live forever. Some are offended by what you say. They can't bear to hear it. They go their own way. But we Your disciples believe in you. Your words are the Spirit dwelling in you. You come from the Father. We come to you. The Father He calls us to live with You. These words that you teach us are hard to hear, But they are true. They are you.
