Wrong Place
I was laying with Lucy in the backroom
of the St Almo Hotel
Watching smoke curl coiled to the ceiling
while the full moon cast its spell
It was a clear cool night with an autumn breeze
And the afterglow felt good
Then Lucy coughed, the door burst open
There her husband stood.
It was the wrong place
I had the same old damn wrong face
Now here I stand a shadow of a man
Stone dead telling tales
Well things are very seldom what they seem
And I had seen this game before
So I grabbed my pants and went through the window
While he pulled out his forty four
It was a long drop down but I landed on my feet
And put my pants on by the moonlight
I thought I was clean away from that scene
When gunfire split the night
It was the wrong place
I had the same old damn wrong face
Now here I stand a shadow of a man
Stone dead telling tales
Now don't you feel sorry when you hear my story
Don't cry for me at all
When you trade your life for another man's wife
You're bound to take a fall
It was the wrong place
I had the same old damn wrong face
Now here I stand a shadow of a man
Stone dead telling tales
