Swan feathers I found by a boating lake in Fleetwood inspired the song. Worthless objects with priceless memories.
Story behind the song
Swan feathers I found on by a boating lake in Fleetwood last year inspired the song.
As a little girl i spent many happy hours "dancing" to our L.P of Swan Lake. I always wanted to be a ballerina, but in the end it turned out I was too tall.
The feathers are still in a crystal vase on my window sill.
I recorded the dawn chorus in my garden.

Swan Feathers

Swan feathers
Fallen from a wing
Pick them up and take them home
That won`t mean anything
Put them on the window sill
With other worthless things
Seashells from the ocean tide
And a bird made of string
Swan feathers
Moving with the air
Your name recalled to me
Feels like you are there
We are dancing in the spotlight
We are Siegfried and Odette
He is stong and handsome
As she turns a pirouette
Swan feathers
Light as mist upon the stream
Floating down like messengers
In a long forgotten dream
Swan feathers
Softer than the snow
Without the wings they’ve fallen from
There’s nowhere they can go
Swans, they mate for life you know
Never will they part
When they meet their silhouette
It looks just like a heart
So I`ll gather up those downy plumes
And stitch them back as one
Fashion me a pair of wings
Fly to you, and I’ll be gone
Swan feathers
Light as mist upon the stream
Floating down like messengers
In a long forgotten dream
Swan feathers
Softer than the snow
Without the wings they’ve fallen from
There’s nowhere they can go
