The world's original virtual pop group. Guaranteed 100% discorporate since 1993. Made up of one part Matt Perry (guitars, bass, vocals, cryptic asides), one part Joe Perry (keyboards, vocals, bad guitar playing), and one part John White (drums, assorted other noises).
Story behind the song
This is a brief but spirited ode to Chris George's botched 1960s television series, "The Immortal," examining the points of conflict between everlasting life and a one-season network run. Recorded live on Neptune during one of our recent interplanetary tours. Guitarist Jeremy Shaw appears courtesy of guitarist Jeremy Shaw.
Lyrics
I don't understand it
I think I'm going to live forever, now
I don't understand it
I think I'm going to live forever, now
That's what the doctor told me, anyhow.
Who's got a special kind of blood?
(I got a special kind of blood)
That's what the doctor told me, anyhow.
Canceled, canceled, canceled, canceled,
They took my pictures away.
Canceled, canceled, canceled, canceled,
They threw my contract away.
I was immortal but the show was stupid,
too stupid to last a day.
A giant carrot, a big talking chicken
That must be the trick
A giant carrot, a big talking chicken
That must be the trick
Or maybe maybe maybe maybe, baby baby baby baby
I should have been a big hick.
Who's got a special kind of blood?
(I got a special kind of blood)
That's what the doctor told me, anyhow.
I was driving, I was in a race car
I was in a race car, going real fast
I got to find my brother, I'm looking for my brother,
I can't find him on the show
I'm in a big hurry, I've only got three episodes.
Canceled, canceled, canceled, canceled,
They took my pictures away.
Canceled, canceled, canceled, canceled,
They threw my series away.
I was immortal but the show was stupid,
too stupid to last a day.
Who's got a special kind of blood?
(I got a special kind of blood)
That's what the doctor told me, anyhow.
