Chapter Three
(Swimming in the river and climbing trees)
(Near the river, Terry jumps into the water and begin to swim from one bank to another. Little Ananya Lakshmi paddles in the cool water. Sonu touches the water with her hand)
Sonu
Oh, my! My! That’s cold.
(Little Tweety to Little Spottu and Tobee)
Catch me if you can! I challenge you!
(Little Spottu and Tobee climb trees, but the sparrow flies to the next branch).
(Little Spottu and Tobee run after the sparrows, offstage.
A flock of sparrows come on stage, and perform a ballet.
Every now and then, Little Spottu, or Tobee will run across the stage, chasing birds).

(Terry anna swims back from the other side of the bank, climbs out of the water, and shakes the water off his back).
Tobee and Spottu, (from the branches, to Terry anna, playing a bit of hide and seek)
Terry anna, Terry anna! Look where we are. Can you see us? We can see you!

Across the sky, pure and azure, the sun advances overhead, benevolent.
Above the clouds, above the tops of trees.
Across the sky, the pure and ardent light melts the clouds, majestic sun!
The hot and drowsy haze of the breathless afternoon reaches into the shade
where trees reside.
The river slides, drifting by the shore.
The forest abundant, blossoms, and trees
All sing to me!
All that is good is touchingly near, (seems so touchingly near),
and, what is cruel and cold seems distant.
In life there are moments of selflessness which cannot be express'd --
Who will explain what beauty means:
I know everything will be well:
The sun hears my endless yearning.
