Born, Shamesha Shanta Towns, this singer songwriter was raised in Dallas, Texas and has always had a very strong passion for music. She classifies her sound as a little jazz, a little R&B, and a lot of soul. Her sound has often been compared to that of Grammy Award winners Erykah Badu, Faith Evans and Lauryn Hill. 
Although she is a native of Dallas, Mesha moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 2000 to be with family. While in Atlanta she endured some life altering experiences, which should have destroyed her. Instead, those experiences gave her a song to sing. She was inspired by those feelings and immediately songs began to flow. She moved back to Texas in 2002 and focused on getting her life back and raising her son.
Since 2003 Mesha has been hard at work co-writing songs for her upcoming debut album The Essence of Mesha. The songs on this album are not only about the pain she’s had to endure, but include the pleasures that life can bring. Songs like “Love The Way”, “Let Go” and “Day Dreaming” have received great response from fans in the online community. The single “Love The Way” reaching number 234 out of over 1 million songs submitted by members of Soundclick.com. Mesha has also reached number 1 artist status in the Neo-Soul/R&B category on Indie Charts.com.
