This song is country blues ballad concerning the feelings that haunt a person, sometimes for years, when they have loved someone profoundly and lost them. Anything can bring back the memory. Feeling blue, quickly follows.

Story behind the song
Which one would you like to hear? The one where I found her in bed with another man? The one where I found the "Dear John" note on the kitchen table when I got home? The one where I found her crying on the couch and moaning, "We're never going to be rich, so I've got to leave you." Or perhaps, the one where she called me on the phone to say, "My lawyers filed for divorce today. I won't be home again." Or the one where I came home early, ran up the stairs and found her and her best girlfriend in each others underclothes frantically trying to get fully dressed as quickly as possible. These were all different women by the way.
Lyrics
When I Get The Blues Over You Sometimes they come in the morning and sometimes in the late afternoon. But, I leave on the light, when they come late at night, Oh, when I get the blues over you. Sometimes, I don't even notice. Then again, sometimes I do. And I call on the phone, but you're never alone, Oh, when I get the blues over you. Chorus: Oh, when I get the blues over you, Then I know, I was always a fool. Oh, and fools never learn, They just hope you return. When I get the blues over you. Sometimes, when I'm out with a woman, And she smiles like you used to do….. I take her home, and I don't sleep alone. When I get the blues over you. copyright 1981 by Victor Compton
