I'm a singer/songwriter and am losing my voice to a neuromuscular disorder. So I am on a quest to have my songs heard and hopefully recorded by someone.
Turned on the local news this morning
Different day, the same sad stories
Unless familiar names are mentioned
Nobody pays that much attention
But everybody listens without fail
To learn about the latest Christmas sale
Someone’s child died in the war
A young man robbed a liquor store
Someone’s little girl just disappeared
Drugs are running through the schools
But the Lord’s prayer is against the rules
And 9/11 left us all in fear
And what do you want for Christmas this year?
Can somebody tell me why
Little children have to cry
Spending all their lives in pain
Has the whole world gone insane?
Peace talks finally end the war
We feed the hungry, clothe the poor
Kids will only cry a happy tear
All the drugs are thrown away
We say the Lord’s prayer every day
Not a single soul will live in fear
Yeah, that’s what I want for Christmas this year
Oh Lord
