Godfiend is a progressive metal band originating from northwest Georgia. The completely self-taught quartet takes music to another level through the collaboration of odd-time signatures and melodic passages. With music ranging from tranquil harmony to brutal dissonance, Godfiend cites a number of influences including 18th and 19th Century composers, as well as, Jazz, Blues, and Metal artists. The name 'Godfiend' represents the duality of the human psyche. As e. e. cummings once wrote, "so many selves(so many fiends and gods each greedier than every)is a man". This female fronted band embraces this philosophy using primarily clean vocals to emphasize divinity during the often chaotic, technically proficient compositions. Since 2007, Godfiend has gained the respect of the community by performing at venues such as the Masquerade, Little Tree Studios, the Spring 4th Center, etc. Godfiend is Cassy Thaxton: Vocals/Keyboards, Drew Collum: Guitars, Drew Waits: Bass, Joel Dudley: Percussion.
