In 2008, Donald W. Mohr collected some of Austin's finest to form a free jazz ensemble for live playing. Austin, having a primarily straight-jazz scene had seen similar acts in the past but they were few and far between. Difficult to find the appropriate venue, Nuclear Powered Winnebago ultimately never found a niche in Austin.

Story behind the song
This is totally improvised in the studio. I took the raw tracks home and had to spend a year mixing it to get it to not just sound like a room. There was some really fine equipment used in the recording and I wanted to show it off. We had a series of pictures we were looking at to inspire us to spontaneously create these pieces.
