Merry Christmas Darling

(Carpenters cover) A timeless Christmas song from the Carpenters. A bit melancholic, but also hopeful at the same time (like me).

Queen of the Cover Songs...
This is something I'm doing just for fun -- to live out a lifelong dream since the age of around 7 or so when I realized that I could carry a tune (without the use of a bucket!) and it didn't sound bad. Much love and thanks go to those in my SoundClick family (and now beyond!) who helped to encourage/challenge me to spread my wings to try this out and continue to take it to the next level. Without your kind support I'd still be just a listener (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Story behind the song
Since I seem to do fairly well with the Carpenter songs, this one seemed to be a no-brainer to record. Again, this is using a purchased backing track that includes vocal harmonies, so my part is just the lead vocal. Using techniques I've already learned, I've also been doing a little experimenting with more recording processes. Enjoy (and Happy Holidays to you and yours). Lyrics
MERRY CHRISTMAS DARLING ==================== Greeting cards have all been sent The Christmas rush is through But I still have one wish to make A special one for you Merry Christmas, darling We're apart, that's true But I can dream And in my dreams I'm Christmasing with you Holidays are joyful There's always something new But every day's a holiday When I'm near to you The lights on my tree I wish you could see I wish it every day Logs on the fire Fill me with desire To see you and to say That I wish you Merry Christmas Happy New Year too I've just one wish On this Christmas Eve I wish I were with you Logs on the fire Fill me with desire To see you and to say That I wish you Merry Christmas Happy New Year too I've just one wish On this Christmas Eve I wish I were with you Merry Christmas, darling

Yes, good call! You did a great job on this and I'm sure it will get a lot of attention as your timing is perfect as we all start to gear up! I wouldn't say it's the strongest of songs melody-wise (just a little personal opinion!) but that does not detract from your performance in any way and it's a great choice. I couldn't resist a little of your 'Carole' while I was here, I may have a suggestion for you if you take requests by the way. It will be a belter!
