Story behind the song
As stated before, sometimes we take things for granted in life, but we have a Saviour who was willing to lay down His life for us. I just want to thank Him for a wonderful Mother who taught me about Jesus.
Lyrics
When I was just a little boy, 'round my mothers knee. And darkness seemed to surround me, how she would comfort me. She'd hold me ever so tightly, then she'd take my hand. She'd say, "There's nothing to fear now, someday you'll be a man." CHO. Then she'd sing about Jesus and how He calmed the sea. And her voice was so tender, and she would comfort me. When I became a young man, my country needed me, To wear the uniform proudly, help keep our homeland free. So when I told my mother, she took me by the hand. She said, "There's nothing to fear son." "And you're a fine young man." Cho. Then she prayed to Jesus, "Just like you calmed the sea." "Keep him safe in your arms Lord, and bring him home to me." Mothers' love I remember, and Lord you answered her prayer. She was faithful to you Lord, and you were faithful to her. Many years come and gone now, I have a beautiful wife. With four children and grandkids. It's been a wonderful life. CHO. And I'm thanking you Jesus. I owe it all to you. Keep us safe in your arms Lord, till we come home to you.
