Balsa Racers is Oscar Laun and anybody else who happens to be at G.O.Recording Studio. But primarily Oscar.
Balsa Racers is my solo project. It originally was called "Dewey Wins", but the litigiousness of the Chicago SunTimes (not with my band but with a band in the same name genre called "Dewey Defeats Truman") and the break-up of the band put that name to rest. Balsa Racers is currently a one man studio operation and solo acoustic performance. I do not try to stay within one genre, tho the songs end up being "crafted pop" and less "jam".

Story behind the song
Watching life go by at a coffee shop
Lyrics
Disastardly Fascination She was saying it would take another day to leave him Seems arbitrary to say the least She appeared to be looking for a way to snub him Consolationary words to be released He was unaware a wall of indecisive air would greet him He walked in blithely to the room Humming off key a simple tune CHORUS Disastardly fascination through the corner of our eyes watching other peoples lives Pain, heartache, and confrontation wondering who did what to whom from the shadows of the room He had all his papers for his paper-working work spread out on a table In the corner of the cafe' facing out So he didn't see the manager walk up from behind After a whisper in his ear, began to shout And in one moment all the work was in the air everybody screaming curses A barista on the phone telling us all we should go home If we could've been so bold to say Perhaps it wouldn't have turned out that way but no use crying over yesterday you know know He and she were happy passing by the cafe' Laughing at a shared memory Fifteen minutes later they came running past the window With screeching tires they sped away Sirens in the distance signaled new arrivals Circling 'round to check the scene Further in the distance more disturbances were witnessed Couldn't say what just went down, uniforms were all around
