Story behind the song
It sounds sentimental now - Just a kiss? Verse 3 was autobiographic, I remember my hands shaking on the steering wheel on the way home - Wondering what eternal hurricane have I just started into motion that were completely outside of my control.
Lyrics
1. How did I know, in this day and age? Where everything's, allowed as long as its semi-discrete And consenting adults, consenting openly That I'd be bowled over, when our lips first meet It sounds so quaint old fashioned. It's true. That I stumble when I recall Our first kiss in your hall It was only a kiss 2. Your lips told me, you cared And it seems like minutes, that we lingered there Dynasties seem to rise and fall But my thoughts got lost in your eyes 3. My hands shaking on the wheel What was all of that about Like racing the engine from 1st to 3rd gear Not sure when I finally understood 4. Calling out a battle call, by spark or flare To meet my life right then and there You calmly take it all for granted That electricity is going to flow from you too me 5. Cross my heart and hope to find Life as true, as I've found in love Wonder where the stars aligned That cut across and space and time
