A classic power-trio configuration. Some material is live, some studio. Crank it up and enjoy!
Iron Will was Jim Mato, guitar and vocal, and Carmine Fergo, drums and percussion. Jimmy Condoluci originally played bass. Material was primarily written by Mato and arranged by Fergo. The original band existed from 1979 to 1983. Mato & Fergo continued together on and off 'til 2004, in different projects. A 2002 MkII version of Iron Will (though never named as a band) featured Ben Sandoval on Bass. See Band History below.

Story behind the song
Jim Mato had written the basic outline, with the repeated chorus ("Rapture-waiting...") but only scratch lyrics for the verses. He asked me to write "a few verses"; I gave him six. Three were used (paragraphs 1,3,4 on the Lyrics Page.) At another point, I wanted to insert a "middle-eight", very different part in the song. Only I was familiar with the melody line of the subsequent saxophone part. See if you know it; (Churchgoers have the advantage.) It's entirely relevant to the theme. Read all the lyrics in the "Song Lyrics Section".
Lyrics
Two whole millenia, we've now been waiting; 11 Signs of the times; we're reading, equating; 10 Headline and rumour, with scripture-relating; 11 This year or ten? There's too much debating. 10 The Ten Commandments are safely hidden, 10 and yet from them all our laws are bidden; 10 How high is the wall between Church and State, 10 In matters of morals the two should relate. 11 From crucifixion, now comes lethal injection; 12 higher convictions guarantee re-elections. 12 compared with the past, it's a humane direction; 12 mistakes are still made though, so where's the correction? 12 Our country's blueprint owes much to the Church, 10 Her guidelines and Truths did our Fathers search. 10 the same absolutes that we now besmirch, 10 crowing "now we have science!" from lofty perch 11 God is on our side, America boasts; 10 conserving compassion, border to coast. 10 ranks of the poor are now growing the most, 10 wounding the Spirit, grieving the Ghost. 9 Here and abroad, imposing our will; 9 global opinion is practically nil; 10 Partial birth versus certified kill; 9 Forgetting the figure on Calvary hill. 11 (the numbers are for syllable-count; ©Carmine Fergo, 2003) And Jim's chorus is (usually): "Burn all your money; isn't it funny; It's written on every note... 'In God we trust', to believe it's a must; Rapture-waiting, Rapture take me, Rapture lift me where I belong."
