When I'm sittin' on the fence 
Boy, I got a perfect view!
But when I'm sittin' on the fence,
Isn't much that I can do.
The familiar on the one side; 
On the other, lands unknown.
Do I sit and play it safe?
Do I head for house and home?
Do I set out on my own?

If I set out on my own, 
I don’t know what I will find,
Things’ll never be the same;
I may find that I don't mind!
I may wonder what had stopped me...
Was it just my common sense?
I can always head on back
If it all gets too intense
Back to sittin' on the fence.

Why does opportunity look like such a problem?
Choices seem like what you want,
       at least until you got 'em!

All the people passin' by - 
Well, they haven't got a clue,
All the things there are to ponder
When you're wond'rin' what to do,
If the future’s in the balance,
The decision is immense.
And I don’t know what to do,
So in simple self-defense,
I'm still sittin' on the fence!
