Story behind the song
Married a woman I loved in Union,MS but her adult children rebelled against me and her. Criminal acts, vandalism, theft, physical attacks, and a couple death threats at gunpoint convinced me to leave 'that bad luck town'
Lyrics
Don't Take Me Back to Union by 'Little Charlie' Johnston October 11,2008 Don't take me back to Union that's a place I just wanna forget (x2) got my belly full in Union belly full of hate and disrespect Got married there in Union, Thought I'd be livin' out my dream (x2) But it turned into a nightmare The worst I'd ever seen. That red-neck family I never did nobody no wrong (x2) they bout shot me dead in Union but I'm still livin' to sing this song (chorus) Don't take me back to Union that's a place I just wanna forget. got my belly full in Union belly full of hate and disrespect Bout' lost my life in Union nearly killed myself as well (x2) livin' with that red-neck family was a trip straight into hell So I did what I had to do so Little Charlie could survive (x2) I left Union,Mississippi might say I took a little drive I woke up one mornin' in Union confusion all in my head (x2) told her I was goin' to McDonald's went to New Mexico instead (chorus) Don't take me back to Union that's a place I just wanna forget. got my belly full in Union belly full of hate and disrespect So I divorced that redneck family and now I'm livin' out my dream (x2) my new baby truly loves me. and that's all that matters now to me.

Interesting song. Apparently you don't care for Union. Oddly, my father was born there. His dad had a store on the main street for years. My brother and I made a trip to the place a couple of years ago, along with Meridian and the area to find our "roots". Sure seemed sad and tired, but not particularly hateful.
