Industrial-pop 4-piece combining Gen X nihilism, glam rock, electronic noise
and punk.
MiG-21 was the main collaborative project of independent/experimental New Zealand home-recording label kRkRkRk recordings from mid 2001-mid 2003. The regular members comprised: Mikel Goodwin (bass guitar, occasional electric guitar, backing vocals), Ed Wilson (guitar, backing vocals, occasional keyboards), J-mz Robinson (guitar, backing vocals) and David Khan (lead vocals, rhythm programmes, samples, sound engineering and production, keyboards).
Basically an industrial pop group, MiG-21 provided an excuse for some of the core artists associated with the label to get together, make noise and have a good time. Unlike some other kRkRkRk projects, MiG-21 was never intended to be taken too seriously. Having fun with friends and music was the main objective. Nevertheless, in hindsight, an intriguing Gen X nihilism and disenchantment pervades our recordings - along with some great, trashy pop moments.
