An easy listening but thought provoking song about life from three different perspectives.
I write about everyday life with soft spiritual undertones. Well ok maybe just a little demented humour thrown in there.
Story behind the song
I had just started a new job that had me away from home and my family more than I had expected. I started thinking about the changes in life that some people are forced into without any choice. It gives the listener an opportunity to see the world through someone elses eyes.
Lyrics
She tightly held onto him, as he fell down to his knees
He cried I can't believe it's happening as the tears rolled his cheek.
She told him there was more to life than a farm and this land
He said that's just the problem, that's all that I am.
She was lying in a hospital with her leg in a cast
She had danced a million dances, but this would be her last.
The doctor told her someday, but she didn't understand
She just cried in disbelief and said, but that's all that I am.
All that I am is all that you see
In this life that is all I'm meant to be
Until Gods hand will come and set us free
All that I am, is all I want to be
Now I am a father, just an ordinary man
I try to do the best I can, as a husband and a friend.
A woman will just die away, with the passing of her man
I think I know the feeling, cause she's all that I am.
All that I am is all that you see
In this life that is all I'm meant to be
Until Gods hand will come and set us free
All that I am, is all I want to be
All that I am is all that you see
In this life that is all I'm meant to be
Until Gods hand will come and set us free
All that I am, is all I want to be
All I want to be
All that I am.
