We play original songs in classic styles: Blues Rock, Rock`n`Roll, Blues/Pop, Hard Rock, Country/Pop, Sixties Retro, etc..
Druha smena (The Other Shift) was founded by Milan Vymazal (vocals, keyboards), Zdenek Poklemba (guitars) and Juraj Suchon (drums) in 2001. Jaroslav Novotny (bass) joined a year later. The bands philosophy is based on an argument about who is better: Beatles and Stones (Mr Vymazal asserts so) or Clapton and B.B. King (Mr Poklemba asserts so). The drummer Jirka Suchon usually agrees with everything and the bassist Jarda Novotny with nothing, just to be sure. This is the way how the necessary creative tension is generated. Its results can be heard at various rock (revival) festivals, motorbike meetings, school balls, etc. We must also mention our American friends living in Olomouc, Czech Republic who write the lyrics for us. Thanks a lot, Mick and Michael, for the ongoing excellent collaboration.

Story behind the song
The lyrics are based on an SMS sent by Mick, our friend and lyricist, to Milan, the singer and keyboardist. Milan asked Mick if he`d like to go to Prague to see Paul Mc Cartney in concert. Mick didn`t reply until it was after the show writing: "I THOUGHT ABOUT GOING TO SEE PAUL, BUT I WAS ON THE SIDE OF A MOUNTAIN WITH A PRETTY GIRL. THERE WERE PLENTY OF BEETLES THERE, BUT NOT PAUL. DID YOU GO?"
Lyrics
Should I date `er Maybe later She`s like a force five hurricane I`m the motion She`s the lotion Even honeymoons can wane. Shackin` up with Tina on the side of a hill Man, I swear there`s lotsa beetles Ringo and the fool came with Bungallow Bill We looked around but there`s no Paul Maybe he`s too small. In the morning They`ll be storming To the grounds to check the scene If you`re with it Get your ticket Even old girls like to scream. Shackin` up with Tina on the side of a hill Man, I swear there`s lotsa beetles Ringo and the fool came with Bungallow Bill We looked around but there`s no Paul Maybe he`s too small. (solo - guitar) Shackin` up with Tina on the side of a hill Man, I swear there`s lotsa beetles Ringo and the fool came with Bungallow Bill We looked around but there`s no Paul Maybe he`s too small. Heads are achin` Hands are shakin` Seems the sun came up too soon My last nickel What a pickel Least they played my favourite tune. Shackin` up with Tina on the side of a hill Man, I swear there`s lotsa beetles Ringo and the fool came with Bungallow Bill We looked around but there`s no Paul Maybe he`s too small.
