Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Lyrics
Should have been a turning point, May the 29th, But who are we to rock the boat? For though sixteen separate senators shook my hand that night, It didn't make a difference to the vote. And all the backward glances, Regretted untaken chances, Availed us nothing in the end. We never stopped fighting, I guess we never will. We kept our friends close And our enemies closer still. As she walked back up to the mezzanine with what had gone down: "That was Sebastian on the phone" Well we thought we had enough support to wage against the crown; Seems his was the hand behind the throne. And all the backward glances, Regretted untaken chances, Availed us nothing in the end. I never stopped fighting, I Hope I never will. I had my friends close But my enemy was closer still. We asked for nothing, And that's what we got. Could we make a difference? Evidently not. And the kings and queens and go-betweens Rewrote the lines behind the scenes For the dreams of the victims They so conveniently forgot. That was the turning point, May the 29th, The battle that lost us the war. How strange that Sebastian's name never came to light, But his car's always parked outside your door. And all the backward glances, Regretted untaken chances, Availed us nothing in the end. I try to keep fighting, I hope I always will. My friends keep close And my enemies closer still.

I always admired your ability to compose great songs, one thing i can't surely do. This is a beautiful song, emotional, fine guitar rythm and runs. Electric piano sounds great. Prog rock part "camel" like is amazing. Vocals excellent too. Congratulations.

This is a great song Steve. Slightly different to most of your songs so far. An 'album track' ! as they used to say. . . I like it a lot. A rich tapestry of sounds and tones.

Great lyrics, great melody. This one is growing on me. The intro reminds me a little of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, only better. Nice modulation into the chorus.
