This is the first song with lyrics I ever wrote. It was inspired by Fahrenheit 451, and it's about the same general thing.
I'm Drew. Lyrically, I'm influenced mostly by Derek Webb, and musically, I'm influenced by Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Nickel Creek and literally about 20 o
Hey, I'm Drew Miller. I'm 13, and I've been playing guitar since I was in the 3rd grade. I started writing songs in 6th grade, and now I'm in 8th. I listen to John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, David Gray, Nickel Creek, Cold War Kids, John Butler Trio, and Jeff Buckley to name a few. I like to think about lots of stuff, and usually it ends up spilling out onto paper as song lyrics. And I think about good quality stuff, to assure you. My melodies are catchy but not too over the top happy or anything. I try to keep a good balance. Please listen and feel free to download some of the songs to your iTunes or whatever. It will please me if you do.

Lyrics
I was once a shallow man All my thoughts were kept at bay Controlled by the way that it was They simply had nothing to say But that's how our society taught I knew how to walk, how to talk And I know how to think Although those thoughts never went too far Fill me up And that's all that mattered to me They took away the shadows They numbed away the pain But if the shadows are gone Where's the light that made them? And then this girl came along With her beautiful mind She didn't let anything hold her back And had no intention of wasting time She taught me how to feel the pain Feel the shame of the emptiness That fills our world And all the pain I felt Made the happiness much more real She showed me how society was tricking me Giving me this sense of motion without movement Made me feel like I was actually thinking When they were just playing the solvent They took away the jealousy They numbed away the pain They stole everything but happiness Now what can we compare it to? What can we compare it to To know it for what it is? Everyone was the same No one better, no one worse No one to look up to And no one to curse
