Dan Sheehan is a rock musician and songwriter writing about social justice and saving the planet, and led the bands The Dan Sheehan Conspiracy and Banter.
Dan Sheehan's The Seas Are Rising: Stories of a Climate in Crisis, is a concert experience and forthcoming album emphasizing the immediate urgency of the climate crisis. With songs ranging from melancholy tales of caution to vigorous calls to action, the songs entertain while calling on listeners to do their part to combat climate change through voting and holding politicians accountable, limiting their personal carbon footprints, and inspiring others to advocate and act. Through songs rooted in rock, folk, soul, funk, and hip-hop, The Seas Are Rising tells the stories of people around the world already dealing with intense, climate-induced consequences. Listeners hear the stories of Puerto Ricans facing deadly and ravaging hurricanes, Pacific Islanders facing loss of their home due to rising sea levels, Australians fleeing destructive brush fires, and eco-heroes in Latin America working under constant threat to preserve their natural treasures. Sheehan and band have performed throughout the US, UK, Ireland and Spain. His previous concept album and live show, Tales from Earth Incorporated, tackled corporate and political greed and earned Sheehan Songwriter of the Year honors at the New Jersey based Elephant Talk Indie Music Awards as well as Best Political Subject Album from the music director awards at radio station WHFR-FM in Detroit, USA. Sheehan has previously won awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

Story behind the song
This song was written during an extremely cold, snowy winter in New York City. The physical coldness magnified the coldness of the people of New York, from the tough guy on the subway platform to the homeless man on the sidewalk.
Lyrics
Melting Snowman words and music by Dan Sheehan Walking through the city a melting snowman frowns at me I try to keep my balance on the ice Gunshots in the distance Give thanks to God that it's not me Let some other random person pay the price You're so beautiful I love you without knowing you That's as close as I can come these days As you walk out the subway door I realize that there's more of you In another time, another face If only you would try to provoke me I could detest you But you won't even look me in the eyes I don't know which bothers me more The indifference that you imply Or the hatred that I fantasize You're so typical I hate you without knowing you That's the best that I can do these days As you turn around the block I've instantly forgotten you 'Til you show your face some other day People, could you tell me where I can buy some sanity?
