Story behind the song
The song centers around news items of the time it was written - the revelations about priests sodomizing children, the story of the two brothers who murdered their parents in cold blood - leaving out the many wars that are constantly raging all around us; then and now. Meanwhile we all scurry around working hard to make ends meet. You get the idea?
Lyrics
It Really Matters Music and Lyrics By: John “Jonnikhan” King If you’d been where I have been, and seen what I have seen; It might change a few things you believe in; And the same in reverse can be said in the daily newspaper you read; ‘Bout the priest and the sons and all of the ones who really matter; Really matter… Of course you know it’s true, what the powermen say to you; Though it changes from day to day for some reason; Like ants we carry on, it’s been this way for so long; We silently pray there will come a day when dreams won’t shatter; It Really Matters… {Bridge – “It Really Matters” X 4} And soon I will come to know that life is more than a show; And I hope that I live my life with some meaning; For as the day is long, and for all the things I do wrong; It’s not what I say, or how well I play, but what I do really matters; It Really Matters…It Really Matters!
