Lyrics
$3.75 Public Parking Every night at Nine, the homeless gather at The Wall A different group will bring food, to show them the love of God While I was there, I notice it was fifteen till The 10:30pm Ferry, that goes over the mighty Mississippi Here in New Orleans, there was a group from Levelland Texas They where leaving the next morning bright and early They where my ride on the other side of the Mississippi So I ran over a mile in order to get on the 10:30 Ferry While ran I got a call that they would not make it They did not feel like running, so they would settle for the Ferry at 11 But I knew that Ferry was Air conditioned So I ran on pass the group and I managed to make it in 11 When I got in sweat was dripping and I set down Across from me there was a homeless man looking down I asked how he was and he told me “not worth a darn” So I set by him and I encouraged him to let all out Here in New Orleans Everywhere a Person goes There is a needy soul Found out the man was from Houston, he had been here three weeks And he was robbed and had a bloody wound on cheek where he was beat He was in despair, for he needed 48 dollars To take the Greyhound back home where his apartment was calling I picked him up the next day at 4:30 I took him to the Greyhound that was in the middle of the city When I went to park, there was a sign that demanded $3.75 I did not have dime, or cash only my debit card He told not to worry about unless I was paranoid So I went in and bought him a bus ticket and got him some money from the ATM When I got back out, the sign even said “no in and out” I had no way pay, Yet my conscience crushed me as I drove out So here I am Feeling miserable and wretched Cause I did not pay the $3.75 for that the public parking Here in New Orleans Everywhere a Person goes There is a needy soul
