Christian rock band playing original music as well as a few cover tunes.
The Sons of Thunder Fairly Live! Recorded live at the Coca Cola Stage State Fair of Texas October 20, 1985 The Sons of Thunder was a Christian rock band formed in 1980. Two guys that loved music, played guitars, and had started writing some songs - heard a Larry Norman record! Then they found out their new friend in the dorm was a very good drummer. They knew they could get a little brother to play bass. So they collectively thought "Hey, we can do that". So David (drums), Harry (bass), John (guitars), and Elwood (guitars) became The Sons of Thunder. Their music ranges from fun rock and roll to moody introspective numbers. The ballads that feature their God given 3 part harmonies are a fan favorite. With all the different musical influences involved what comes out the other side is good original music. Story behind the song
Wanted a musical roller coaster ride about hero worship. This is a true band song. Everyone added their own personality to this one.
Lyrics
Look Back Now look back in 77, He died upon his bathroom floor. The one so many called the "King", Is gone now and forever more. Elvis death is now the top story, It's the topic of every headline. And if you want his greatest hits, Just send in $4.99. Now look back December 80, Lennons shot down in the street. People start the all night vigils, And start to worship his dead feet. Now John you may have been right, When you said you were more popular. But did it get you any closer to, The One True Saviour. Now look back 2,000 years, A hill called Mt. Cavalry, The One and Only Son of God, Dies to set all people free. Do you think He made headlines, His name is mainly in one Book. You'll find it in the hotel dresser, If you really, really look. Every magazine and paper, Has his picture on it, Says the "King" has been shot down. I wonder what would happen, If the real King came tomorrow, Would you still be around?
