A Rock song with some guitar flavours from the early 1970s. OK, I own up ... there's a small musical 'steal' from an early Be Bop Deluxe song in the intro riff !
powerpop guitar solo meaningful fade out

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
For you who are interested, the Left and Right rhythm guitar parts are both played my Fender Squier Telecaster, which is 'Hi-Strung', (Nashville Tuning) One guitar has a capo at the 7th fret, and the other one doesn't. The 'Lead' guitar parts are played on my Yamaha Revstar 420. Bass, is as always my Rickenbacker 4003. The drums are ... well, they're pretty fabulous sounding 'royalty free', real drum samples that I edited to fit. Recorded on a Zoom R-24 digital recorder. Mixing, 'faffing about', and mastering to final stereo was done in Adobe Adition (1.5) on my now very ancient PC. Thankfully, all this decrepit and sometimes frustrating old gear still works. All guitar processing was via a quite new Line 6 Pod Go unit.
Lyrics
Living On Borrowed Time (c) David A Briggs 2025. Intro: Guitar riff I saw the light, and it was shining bright. when we were young, our skies were blue, there was nothing in the world we couldn't do. These days it's true, the sky has a darker hue. Evil people make this world go round, but it feels like we're living underground. But now I find ... we're living on borrowed time. Is there some 'masterplan', ? help me if you can. Stop the world, I want to get off, I feel like I've had quite enough. In this world today, there's trouble everywhere. there's enough food for everyone. Life shouldn't be a battle that must be won. But now I find ... we're living on borrowed time. middle section ... we're living on borrowed time. we're living on borrowed time. Guitar solo: ------- into intro: Guitar riff Now if you see the light, you'll see it's fading fast. We're cast adrift on a ship of fools, who have no compass and obey no rules. Is there someway back, to a better time ? when traffic was slow and the sky was blue, when thoughts were pure and words were true. But now I find ... we're living on borrowed time. Outro 'Retro', guitar meanderings to fade-out.

Great lyrics to describe exactly how a lot of us are feeling . Love the guitar with that almost psychedelic sound around the late 60s and early 70s which you excell at . Very well sung and phrased to get across your angst ! Really great production to . A winner I would say !

Excellent song! Very well written, produced & arranged. Very accurate observation on the world & the way things are going. I like vocals & harmonies & the guitar work is superb. The perfect radio hit!
