DESCENDANTS OF ASAPH Asaph was the first and chief musician in the early days before the temple was built in Jerusalem. By all accounts (1Chron 16v5) he was a percussionist and drummer and together with Heman and Jeduthun formed the first worship band to accompany the choir in praise and worship of God He wrote a number of psalm lyrics under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. His lyrics are very down to earth and he likes to say things exactly as they are! 'Descendants of Asaph' follow in his tradition and is a virtual band dedicated to making music and song unto the Lord and presenting His challenge to the world today through parables in music. Lyrics
Psalm 84 How Lovely! How lovely is Your dwelling place Oh Lord God of Hosts My soul yearns, yes even faints To enter in Your courts My heart and flesh cry out to You In joyful celebration and Everything within me cries Unto the living God Even the sparrow has found a home Beneath the temple altar To build her nest and raise her young In the safety of Your shelter What joy awaits the souls who choose To dwell within Your temple Forever they will bless Your Name Forever they will sing How blessed the man who finds His strength through pilgrimage The Vale of Tears becomes for him A place of flowing springs The autumn rain it's blessing clothes From strength to strength they go Til each of them in turn appears Before the living God A single day spent in Your courts Is infinitely better than a Thousand days of emptiness outside Your grace and favour And I would rather be employed And labour in Your temple Than dwell in tents of wickedness a life of luxury The Lord God is a sun and shield Bestowing grace and favour No good thing will He withhold From those who love the truth Blessed the man who puts his trust in You
