Story behind the song
The growing uneasiness that freedom of thought and questioning what we are being told by government and their social media mouthpieces is being replaced actively by conformity , and to stray from that conformity carries dire consequences including ostracism and "cancellation".
Lyrics
Careful what you think, measure what you say Remember not to blink, you'll give yourself away Safe within your thin disguise; Safe from their untrusting eyes Conceal your heart, renounce your mind Their mantra speak behind your blind They want to shame what you feel inside But how long can you hide from their untrusting eyes?! So in your favorite costume dress...play it right, They will never guess what's out of sight. So mind your thoughts and consider your replies While hidden safe from their untrusting eyes. Recite the words they pound in your head Escape the maze and you're mark for dead Act just like the puppet they want you to be Surrender your conscience to set yourself free Some are vultures looking to land Scavenge for words that trigger a stand Does what you feel about things you see Tell more about you or the things that you see? Presuming guilt from what they think you meant Say the Right Word, and lose your head So mind your thoughts and consider your replies Or find yourself in their untrusting eyes!
