Story behind the song
There's a scene in David Lynch's movie 'Fire Walk With Me' dubbed 'The Pink Room' due to the track played over it. Dark and gritty with a Cajun twang - and apparently contributed to by Lynch himself who's been known the sling a guitar in his time - this track has haunted me since I first heard it, in a good way like. I've done a couple of tracks previously in homage of that track (not so much 'sound a like' as 'intent a like') so here's a full-on 'Twin Peaks' laden version. But no vibraphone this time, who'd a thunk it eh? Having messed with drop tunings somewhat recently (usually more for 'metal') I'd down tuned a guitar and bass to unreasonable levels, down to drop B... with unsuitable strings, so it sounds a bit rubbery/flappy, but I think (hope...) gives an appropriate growl. Also, overly driven guitar breaking up to the point of almost sounding like electrical hum - "Electricity ... We have descended from pure air.". I did actually yank the jack in and out a bit for the lead up to Bob's speech with a pleasing squeal at the end, hehe. I've had the banjo-y line rattling around my fingers for a while now, and this seemed the appropriate time to release it - I always thought it had a kind of sense of foreboding about it. Bob's a great character, and particularly Kyle McLaughlin's new incarnation, possibly to rival Frank from Blue Velvet in terms of darkness. Post-analysis: It's a bit Floyd-y or Velvet Underground or something? lol Vox sample material from 'Fire Walk With Me' and 'Twin Peaks', owned by David Lynch and blah de blah blah.
Lyrics
"It's him! It's your father!" -the one armed man "Sometimes my arms bend back." -lodge!Laura Palmer "If there's one thing you should know - about me - it's that I don't NEED anything. I WANT." -Cooper!Bob (Bob!Cooper?)

I did not really know which Bob you were referring to, but saw your hint on FB. I knew Bob and he was not a nice person! Everything around him was strange, sp your attempt to transfer this mood to music surely was a success. The spoken voice is great! A nice and strange piece, that fits the theme perfectly.

My daughters go bonkers over anything related to Twin Peaks and they LOVE this, me too! Intense, strange, unique, and original. Spot on idea, brilliant execution, taking it home for us to keep if you don't mind, thanks!

Very. Very. Strange. I think you completely nailed the challenge topic - David Lynch is the owner of "strange" and by taking that inspiration you've created a wonderful monster of a tune. Edgy, disturbing, but at the same time very satisfying with that got-to-play-it-again-ness that keeps revealing new details every time. Bob's speech is terrifying. Fantastic stuff!
Growling, intense, the best sort of madness. Slap on the headphones, turn off the lights, dissolve and let your arms bend backwards. Fantastic!

Great stuff! Very strange atmosphere and kind of cinematic. Kept me hooked, I just had to know where it was going next.
