Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
Oh I don't care if I used the wrong kanji or japanese word, I'm sure he won't mind either. I wrote this when he was born 2 years ago, first sang it to him at his first Christmas. A bit of a soppy song but I love him to bits.
Lyrics
Welcome little one So glad you could come along And join our crazy band We're here to help you where we can Though you're far away You're in my thoughts every single day And one of your smiles Can reach across 6000 miles 'Cause this world is such a small place now I can see your face in a video call And I'll cross the globe every time I can Just to hear you call me ojiisan What will you love? What will you learn? Who will you sing to in your turn? What will you reach for? Where will you go? It fills my heart just watching you grow Hey there little guy Rising sun that lights my sky Look at the state I'm in: The proudest man that's ever been Oh this world is such a small place now I can see your face in a video call And I'll cross the globe every time I can Just to hear you call me ojiisan

A gem of a song that your grandson can cherish in years to come. Superb job, skillfully executed. How amazing that in years to come your grandson will be able to play this to his kids and they will know how you sounded and what you were thinking.
