Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
Don't get me wrong I love the Shinkansen, and even though I try to kid myself that I'm not a train nerd, deep down I fear I am This started out as a love song to these mighty machines but soon my train of thought (sorry) wandered onto a different track and became more of an allegory.
Lyrics
We are bold, we are fast We are interesting in our own strange way Like heores of the past As we cross the nation every day We are born to our quest Scions of the master To be first, to be best To be faster, ever faster We are Shinkansen Wonders of technology We are Shinkansen Dragons of mythology If you look to the east See travellers riding the tail of these Spectacular beasts At undreamable velocities We are Shinkansen Celeritous hegemony We are Shinkansen Leisure is our enemy We are set on our course By rails and automation Driven on by a force That accepts no deviation We are Shinkansen Gods of productivity We are Shinkansen No place for creativity We are Shinkansen
