Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
The 2016 Presidential race? Brexit? The England football team? Your organisation? Actually this was not written for any of these but it could be that the lyric resonates with many similar situations, and could apply equally to whatever side you're on. Relax, it will probably turn out all right in the end. Probably.
Lyrics
Even the brainwashed can see the news Isn't looking good for this ship of fools When the king of dreamers is joining forces With the patron saint of useless causes. Why do we imagine that things might change, Choosing as we do every time the same? So let's continue living in the here and now And keep on bailing 'til the ship goes down! So come on people let's make some sound, Raise your voices for one more round, One last drink before we drown And keep on bailing 'til the ship goes down! Driven to our knees by years of misrule By the gambler, the thief and the witless fool - Judging by results it's plain to see They don't give a hoot* so why should we? 'cause every new fool brings a bright new plan From la-la-I'm-not-listening land So why the hell plan beyond the here and now? Just keep on bailing 'til the ship goes down! Come on people let's make some sound, Raise your voices for one more round, One last drink before we drown And keep on bailing 'til the ship goes down! *I think that's what he said ^^

Great one to sing along to. I guess it would work perfectly in an acoustic session with different musicians. Yeah, that would be great...singing, playing, drinking and talking about stupid things! Have to listen a second time! Brilliant Song!

Very unique Steve. Nice production on the guitars - is that a banjo in there too? Very cool synth fxs. A pretty guitar solo. Mind your Ps & Qs mate!

Excellent drinking singalong to keep the house rockin late into the night :) Great, live sounding production values!

man i love this song got me right from the start
That opening sound, it's like being inside an acoustic guitar that is somehow electric as well - very cool! And that organ at the first break has that same crisp clarity to it. And I like the solo. And the song and words and all the rest. Cynically optimistic - I like it :D

A great singalong song with first class lyrics. Very well written, performed and arranged. Another great one from the Smivets Song Factory.
