DESCENDANTS OF ASAPH Asaph was the first and chief musician in the early days before the temple was built in Jerusalem. By all accounts (1Chron 16v5) he was a percussionist and drummer and together with Heman and Jeduthun formed the first worship band to accompany the choir in praise and worship of God He wrote a number of psalm lyrics under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. His lyrics are very down to earth and he likes to say things exactly as they are! 'Descendants of Asaph' follow in his tradition and is a virtual band dedicated to making music and song unto the Lord and presenting His challenge to the world today through parables in music. Lyrics
A DOVE ON DISTANT OAKS Lord be gracious to me for men are in pursuit they take delight in laying traps before my feet all day long they twist my words they plot to do me harm they scheme behind my back intent to bring me down as for me i am a man of peace searching far and wide for some signs of hope though it seems to me peace is but a dream about as far away from here as a dove on distant oaks when i am afraid i will trust in you in God whose word i praise what can mortal man do to me? oh God have mercy on me for i am in distress my foes have tied the noose that dangles from my neck on no account let them escape in anger foil their plans reach out and rescue me from falling in their hands as for me i am a man of peace searching far and wide for some signs of hope though it seems to me peace is but a dream about as far away as a dove as far away as a dove on distant oaks
