The Stray Dawgs are from Plantation, Florida. Lew Dawg Cloninger is the founding member and plays guitars and sings (many people refer to it as hollering). Founding member Steve Sallaz plays bass, sings and also does most of the mixing and mastering of our recordings. He also plays a variety of percussion instruments. We have many other musician friends that help us out at live shows as well as recording. Huge thanks go out to Susan Ivory Blue who has played piano and organ on many of our recordings and gigs. Also special thanks to Lew Knapper for his help with Texas blues harp on many of our songs.

Story behind the song
This came from a dream I had in 1975. I had been very sick and had high fever for days. I have the best (or the worst) dreams when I am really sick. The scene is the side of a mountain with a stairway going all the way up. On either side their are angels singing in a choir. Almost at the top is a gigantic human heart hooked up to equipment to make it work. Listen for the rest.

V1 There's a choir of ten thousand angels in white robes on Raven's Hill. On the terrace stands a framework around a heart that beats it's will. In the valley of the shadow the dark knight in armor waits. His mount, his lance, his sword prepared for his charge through Heaven's gate. Orders come from those on high. No turning back from here, though cause for execution in the mind is hardly clear. Chorus: And choir sings; Let's get on with the more ambitious scenes. Let's get on with the more ambitious scenes, and the angels turn the world with the music that they sing. Let's move along if you know just what I mean. V2 Hooves pounding in the dust below. Steam from the nostrils flared. Sweat rolling from a heaving chest as they charge the mountain stair. Eyes burning in reflection. The target now in view. The knight is not to question, for his duty he must do. The din, it grows to thunder. Wind, rain, lightning all around. The conductor yells to boys and girls, "let's rock this world on down, down, down. Chorus: Bridge: instrumental V3 Lean forward in the saddle. Brace lance and hold sword high. The face shield on the helmet down as the time of truth is nigh. At moment of the impact, the heart is run straight through. A spray of red rolls on white gowns and down the stairway too. If you thought you'd leave this world alive, you'd better think again. For the dark knight is the reaper. To your world he'll bring the end. Chorus: repeat twice
