New Song and Video "Listen to the Girl" a lesson for younger people. The best way to get to know someone is FACE to FACE. The Human Way.
The Stray Dawgs are from Plantation, Florida. Lew Dawg Cloninger is the founding member and plays guitars and sings (many people refer to it as hollering). Founding member Steve Sallaz plays bass, sings and also does most of the mixing and mastering of our recordings. He also plays a variety of percussion instruments. We have many other musician friends that help us out at live shows as well as recording. Huge thanks go out to Susan Ivory Blue who has played piano and organ on many of our recordings and gigs. Also special thanks to Lew Knapper for his help with Texas blues harp on many of our songs.

Story behind the song
This song is about the dumb things you do when you are young and think you are bulletproof. The three verses are from three true stories from my life. Considering all the dumb things I have done, I am lucky to be around to write songs. I have MANY, MANY more stories about stupid things I have done. The list goes on and on.
Lyrics
V1 Drinkin with two buddies down at The Checkered Flag. Half a dozen rednecks, two young chicks and a hag. Well they all stood up, said we called their girl a slut. I had funny feelin way down in my gut. Bouncer stepped between, said "you boys has got to go and if you know what's best you won't come round no more". Chorus But when you're young and stupid, you got no fear. You think you'r gonna live for a thousand years, but each time you fall, its hard to get up. You're an old dog now. You can't run like a pup. Well I made some bad choices on my way to gettin old. I always played my cards. I didn't know when to fold. Now I'm grateful for the good life I've got, cause its dark on the other side of no matter what. V2 Twistin back the throttle to outrun the train. When you get there the crossin bars are down again. Well, you got two choices. Stop and forget it, or lay her down on the pegs and hope you got credit. The train rushes by, horn and wind at your back. You better trade that motorcycle for a Cadillac. Chorus V3 I'm gonna pass number four if its the last thing I do. Racin and a rubbin, runnin two by two. You dive into the corner. The tires take a set. You stand up in the gas and take off like a jet. Burnin down the straight that seems to have no end, then life is gonna throw another curve again. Chorus. repeat 2 times
