Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
This seemed to be a popular tune off my 2014 album so I thought I'd post it for the Clickers Club "Own Favourites" player, Valentines Day 2015. This is pretty much a true story of one of the very best years of my life (19...ahem) or what little of it I can recall hehe.
Lyrics
I had good money and a place of my own, London Town where I called my home. A skinny kid running out of control Scratching at the edges of rock'n'roll Worked all day til half past five Then load the van for the gig-bound drive Dead-end dives and empty clubs Getting kicked out of redneck pubs 24 forever, 24 forever It didn't get much better That's the truth Wish I could be 24 forever, 24 forever It didn't get much better til I met you. Wildcat parties everywhere Show me the bottle I'd be there Waking up god knows where In whose company I couldn't care No worries, no ties No need to compromise The pivotal moments of our lives I'm just glad the memory survives 24 forever, 24 forever It didn't get much better That's the truth Don't want to be 24 forever, I don't want to be 24 forever It didn't get any better til I met you.

Sometimes I wake in the morning thinking I'm 24 again - only to be awkwardly surprised moments thereafter :D What a high energy punk rocker!! Really gets the juices flowing... might be even feeling 34 listening to this now ;) Excellent performance and production Steve - killer guitars!!

Wow, a high octane song about a high octane lifestyle (have you read Slash's autobiography?). The guitar break is lightning, the rest is just a whirlwind of energy and stunning rock'n'roll. Brilliant, and catchy too.

Wow, Steve! This is an absolute gem! I love it all - From the killer intro riff to the great vocal performance, the story in the lyrics and the sizzling energy that runs through this fantastic piece of punk/new wave. It reminds me of the days of the Ramones, The Clash, The Police and that whole wave of bands that brought something new and refreshing into the music world. Your guitar work is outstanding and it's easy to hear how much you feel at home in this genre, with all the little details like the drum breaks sounding so right!
