DESCENDANTS OF ASAPH Asaph was the first and chief musician in the early days before the temple was built in Jerusalem. By all accounts (1Chron 16v5) he was a percussionist and drummer and together with Heman and Jeduthun formed the first worship band to accompany the choir in praise and worship of God He wrote a number of psalm lyrics under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. His lyrics are very down to earth and he likes to say things exactly as they are! 'Descendants of Asaph' follow in his tradition and is a virtual band dedicated to making music and song unto the Lord and presenting His challenge to the world today through parables in music. Lyrics
A Modern Hymn Lord of the moorlands, the remote and lone islands Eye of the eagle soaring high o'er the glens Wind in the sails of the wayfaring sailor Bringing him safely to his haven again God of the city and vaste conurbations Girder and steel of the concrete domain Heart pumping softly through subways and sidewalks Masses of people, the blood through her veins Sultan supreme in the wastes of the deserts Oasis of life in the drought stricken sands Whispering silence spanning windswept savannas The peeling of thunder that troubles the land Lord of the cosmos, vaste empty spaces Breath stirring up the dust storms on Mars Hand of creation's primeval wisdom Extending a sceptre that touches the stars
