Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.

Story behind the song
Fable (n) - a short tale with a moral lesson, often portrayed by animals. OK so I had this lyric lying around and when the CBC challenge theme was announced as "fables" I thought it might do. It's just a bit light on animals. Actually no animals at all but no one ever checks. After a couple of pints of Um Bongo I had the tune, so all that remained was to try and make it sound as grungy as possible. No pedals were harmed in the attempt. Great thanks and praise once again to Jude and Bobby for setting another intriguing theme. CBC challenges - there really is no finer fun!
Lyrics
After a while you just get to know Which ones you can catch and which ones to let go And it's more to do with patience Than anything you can change But I see no cause for it getting me down It's just the way the world turns round And I'll have better luck next time Or the next time after that But when I see that big wave building Like a dark blue wall out on the sea And I'm the one who's on position Cause I waited here so patiently I smile to myself 'cause I know this one's for me. This is my wave, my wave My perfect wave This is my wave, my wave My perfect wave And I catch her as the crest tips over And I'm riding through the spray, through the foam This is my wave And I'll ride it All the way home I tell you what I'm gonna do - Not bite off more than I can chew And I don't care about anyone else's opinion. The sun is shining and I'm on the beach Guess we only get one life each And I'm not about to waste mine Chasing something I can never get So when I see that big wave building Like a dark blue wall out on the sea And I'm the one who's on position Cause I waited here so patiently I smile to myself 'cause I know this one's for me. This is my wave, my wave My perfect wave This is my wave, my wave My perfect wave And I catch her as the crest tips over And I'm riding through the spray, through the foam This is my wave And I'll ride it All the way home All the way home

Outstanding track!! I liked the opening so much my friend, those great guitar strumming riffs and drums, excellent arrangement and composition/perform all over the track. I wish to join Mike ( Bennett ) remarking: "I wouldn´t expect anything less from you..!!". Exactely, well done!! :) Peace.

I'm hearing that 'Squeeze' influence and very cool to hear a rockin' fable track - but then I wouldn't expect anything less from you - NICE!!!

This is so great. Another favourite of the Fable challenge. Your guitar work is sublime and the tune is so catchy and well sung. Maybe your vocal should be a little louder and the guitar turned down a bit? But that is just details, the song is great and the lyrics are fantastic. "The perfect wave" is such a great metaphor for that moment we all hope for. But will we jump the wave if it comes along? Super work, Steve!

This is totally the opposite of what I expect in a fable challenge, but very refreshing. You are able to make such very solid Pop/Rock songs and your mood is really going back to the 70's. Hope lyrics are on your song page. I really enjoyed this.
