Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
A song about doing absolutely nothing for the CBC daydream challenge July 2013. Birdsong recorded from my bedroom window on the morning of the challenge.
Lyrics
Lazy day Just laze away The world can drift on by With no help from me Sun is high Summer birds in a big sky Just you and me In the shade of this tree I can't imagine that we Require any kind of activity Just close our eyes And drift off in the heat And gently simmer Cats They. have the right plan Strenuously doing as little as they can Maybe open half an eye If they can spare the time Let's be like that Working hard at staying stretched out flat That's the thing about doing nothing There's no deadline I can't imagine that we Require any kind of activity Just close our eyes And drift off in the heat And gently simmer

So so so daydreamy, Seth! Your mix of guitar and vocal is perfect for the "Simmer" mood (bty - we have a new cat, Foxy, who looks like your cat pic - our beauty was a winter abandoned stray who gave birth to twins two months ago). Your song has a wonderful Blues laid back feeling that makes one go into a most pleasurable daydream journey. The organ touch is also just right for the intended mood. Thanks for the pleasure of this tune, and the dl. PS: Please forgive my late comment, but a lightning bolt two days after the 7/6/13 CBC Daydream Song Challenge knocked out my computers - we are now just recovering after new hard drives/ etcetera...

Man it's dark in here...smoke lifts slowly from the lips of the night angel at the end of the bar. She catchs me staring at her, with a wry smile she walks over and takes my hand leading me out on the dance floor. The band continues the burning grind as she......
Really like that rythm gtr tone, and it blends so well with the keys. I'm blown away by this one.

Steve this is the nuts, l am always envious of songwriters and singers, you've written some great tracks and this is no exception, great guitar solo and love the organ, the whole song is great.

Brilliant!! I really like the vibe and the bluesy, lazy groove. Perfect vocals for this type of song, easy to over-cook something like this, but you have nailed it in every way. Love that guitar solo - blissful!! A kind of retro vibe to this, I also hear some elements of Dire Straits...but mainly it's your own insightful and magical input that is always so impressive.

This is top shelf all the way - very cool lyrics/vox/music - kinda reminds me of the band, Squeeze, on several levels - Nice!
