Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
With a slight nod to Swedish death metal (complete with blast beat!) this is my attempt to capture the madness that often infests my world - all busy (some would say inefficient...) people will probably recognise these sentiments. I often think I should invest all my time into inventing a time machine - once you have one of those you can always go back and fix all the other problems at your leisure. Once again the magic Marshall produces all the guitar tones - one amp, one guitar, no pedals and I never touch any of the controls on the amp (basically they're all just on 11).
Lyrics
Every time I look at the clock It all becomes a losing battle What started as a leisurely tick tock Has turned into a wild mechanical rattle Minutes flash by in a second Hours take barely a minute My day would be less Of a maelstrom of stress If I didn't always have to try to fit quite so many things in it And I'm always running out of time Everything gets in the way One last thing After one last thing And it never gets finished, never gets finished Always running out of time Always running out of time Always running over the deadline Deadline There's always a desperate problem Everybody's waiting on you But you get delayed And you're stuck in traffic And there's nothing whatsoever that you can do And the Phone is constantly ringing With people chasing you to impart Updates and news on the jobs you'd love to finish If you only get a minute to start 'Cos I'm always running out of time Everything gets in the way One last thing After one last thing And it never gets finished, never gets finished Always running out of time Always running out of time Always running over the deadline Deadline And I'm always running out of time Everything gets in the way One last thing After one last thing And it never gets finished Always running out of time Always running out of time Always running over the deadline Deadline Better late than never Somehow I seem to be both Everything takes forever And in the words of a hackneyed ancient joke I'd be late for my own funeral As if it couldn't get any worse I'd be the one On the phone in the back of a taxi Stuck behind the hearse 'Cos I'm always running out of time Everything gets in the way One last thing After one last thing And it never gets finished, never gets finished Always running out of time Always running out of time Always running over the deadline Deadline Maybe at that final deadline I'll finally hit my date But leave me a phone in the coffin In case I'm running late

Like the guitar tone on this one. Yikes, this is going to take some time to sift thru all your songs- but I'll enjoy it.

I've discovered one thing about life...the more you do, the more you're expected to do! Great song, I can relate...loud, in-your-face frantic rock - brilliantly performed and written. I like the ticking clock in the song - I have a hatred of the things, I have been known to put them in the shed because they always seem to be "nagging" me :D This song really gets the idea across, excellent stuff.

life inspires another hit song, from steve!! the tick tock is so cool!! I've done that on one of my songs too : )) ! Hard rockin' greatness in music! and very relatable lyrics!!! i love the vocal effects! very professional sound! this could/would be the "Theme Song" for lots of people out there!! and to think...our ape cousins in the wild are laying back on a bed of banana leaves and picking their toes without a care in the world...while we seem to run in circles, just to stay on top of everything haha! anyway, great new tune!! :D
