Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
For the CBC Native American music challenge, Jan 2013 Well I can't claim to know anything at all about American Indian culture or music, but this is what came into my head. Once again major thanks to Jude Law for setting these challenges - more like an assualt course for musicians really but tip top fun too! The picture is an 1899 portrait of Arapahoe leader Yellow Magpie, courtesy of www.firstpeople.us He doesn't look like he's enjoying my tune too much.

WOW SETH, This is so BEAUTIFUL>>>> Im so glad I got to HEAR THIS...... Thank YOU for Sharing this BRILLIANT COMPOSITION with us! THIS IS AWESOME.... My favorite ...YES! JON
"Arapahoe Sky" - a highly creative title matched brilliantly by the notes of the song. Your combinations of drums, flute, synth, etcetera (like sound effects) presents the essence of Native American Music - and History/Culture. I love this song, Seth! Thanks for the music experience and the download as well.

Ugh! Young Arapahoe brave consults the great Spirit before mounting his faithful stead and engaging the white eyes in battle! Very neat song Steve!

Not merely a song, an experience. The vibrance of this track is off the charts, energy and power galore, ultra-expressive flute work. Wallops the listener and holds on tight, dynamite stuff!

Heavily synthed but works magically! One of those rare tunes that is made for synth. Creatively produced and clean!!

Very creative the way the tribal music is fused with the electronic to create something very unusual and progressive. In some ways it takes me back to the spiritual, progressive rock bands of the late 60's, yet it has a more contemporary edge to it. Totally absorbing track.

Wind and thunder are coming in. Drum beats, going faster. A flute and a synthesizer, all very loose. Everything is changing when the lead synth is coming (1:10). More structure but with still loose elements. Only drums and flute remind me of the natives. Amazing how you mix that Jazz into it. I hear your fun of creating. Very original. There's very much in here, so that I will have to listen another time for discovering more. Very good job! I enjoyed this very much!
