A wonderful blend of smooth jazz, funk, dance and world music centralized through the piano, acoustic guitar and the occasional synth lead..
ALL of the compositions you hear here start with one simple truth - without God, I could do nothing but because of HIM, all this is possible! Each and every effort is a serenade to Him, as I owe Him every song. Over the years, I've learned new things about song composition and have always been willing to push the boundaries of sound. I was trained as a musician and recording engineer as a child, learning to put together melodies when I was only 7 years old. This was at the height of jazz fusion where lead instrumental improvisation was king. Although I was trained early on to read and write sheet music, this improvisation has shaped my writing. Now, I write from my heart. The songs represented here are the culmination of my ventures. Each new song is a lesson in itself as I am a never ending student of music, sound and the new and emerging recording processes. As you listen, keep in mind these are my intimate conversations with God. My conversations are sometimes upbeat, sometimes somber, but never boring. In all, I share these songs so that you may enjoy the music.

Story behind the song
This is the first song from the project "Emergence". During the past year, I've faced so many changes and adversities, but through it all we've come "full circle".. :-)

This one is a sublime woven construction, but it's still light to listen to. The use of violin in this kind of jazz is quite unusual. The beat is bringing a cool touch. The balance/sound is very good, with strong basses. Very enjoyable. Good job!

Your songs always has that "life" experience interwoven into it. Your solo instrument of choice (violin) is salaciously well done. Your signature production is vibrant and Silky-smooth. As they say, Mr. Grant is back!!!

Well it was about time! Great stuff Arlen. Let's hope that 2013 is as productive as last year. The violin fits the song perfectly and the nice chord changes replete with those little suspensions are just stellar! All the best from the Soundworld!

Mr. Grant is back!! YES, and this is a great come back!! Digged that fine melodic base, spanish/latino groove, a violin as lead instrument .... what a clever and well performed choice! Noticed those changes and breaks in the lines, so that the tune is really breathing alive and always worth to be listened to. Good Job Arlen, welcome back my friend!

Nice groove and melody, the dissonants give it that magical sparkle that's so elusive :) Nice work Arlen!
