Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
Bit of a cheat for the 70s challenge - this was a piece I was already working on but I always thought it had a 70s vibe so the CBC gave me the spur to get it finished. Huge thanks as always to Jude and Bobby Coconut for setting these wonderful challenges. Best fun ever. For the gear junkies amongst us I must point out how pleased I was with the guitar tone on this'un. No pedals, effects or softwares were used - I just slaved my 2 Marshall combos together by feeding the DI output of the JTM60 into the input of the old 2150, sat them side by side and miked them up as a stereo pair. Creating an almost dual rectifier American sound using only old Brit amps. All valves - and EL34's too, none of yer 6L6 rubbish! Glorious 100% pure Marshall roar. Ah hem sorry got a bit carried away there, nurse says it's time for my nap now.
Lyrics
I was dry, like tinder, Waiting for a spark. She was a red hot cinder Sizzling in the dark. That flash of recognition Took about 15 seconds flat; We reached the point of ignition Ten minutes after that. It was like a forest fire Burning out of control - A raging inferno Lit from a white-hot coal - Destroying all in its path. Once it takes hold, Love like a forest fire Takes its toll. She said "Hey, my dear, I got the plan right here: That you I just disappear Into the damson velvet night". I said "Suits me fine, Can't say it hadn't crossed my mind" So we went where no lights shined And set those fires alight. Hearts on fire Fuelled by a bad desire As the flames grew higher Burning up the place. "Sweet red cherry, Don't you find this very Incendiary? So lets enjoy the blaze." We melted all before us The heat was so intense. Faith was no protection, Innocence no defence. We became creatures of fire, Which to us made perfect sense, Discarding our former lives As pointless extravagance. It was like a forest fire Burning out of control - A raging inferno Lit from a white-hot coal - Destroying all in its path. Once it takes hold, Love like a forest fire Takes its toll. Love like a forest fire

Oh my ! From the opening killer riff through the song there is a display of pure rock fire, professional musicianship and out of this world composition. You are kinda illuminated by the music gods. Smivets rules !
The song's title and description says it all - this tune is truly a "Forrest Fire" rockin' with love and destruction of the BEST KIND in music!!!!! WOW, Seth and other Smivets, you always amaze me with your abilities to excite with music. That blend of vocal, drums, guits, other is unique among the rock band masses. Really! Thanks for the '70s song pleasure and the download of this very great song. Bob (and the JBBQ "Guys")

wow, this is the old school Rock that I like. This really sounds like a great 'Band' The drums are nice and up-front. Excellent sounds throughout. The snare before the awesome guitar solo is so good. Nice sections where the instruments 'drop out' and come back in powerfully. A tremendous arrangement. Man you've gone 'heavy' ! I like it. One of your best Steve

Kick-ass brilliance! Thick, powerful, milky-rich guitar tone steals the show, great display of musicianship as always, dynamite energy-laden switch-ups. Diggin' those lyrics a lot and the signature delivery is sublime, love it!

This track is absolutely hitting the 70´s theme!!! Cool guitar, bass and drums running on that rock groove, even a "Bolero" within... what can I ask for more ???? Explosive atmosphere, great licks on the guitar, everything is simply rocking just like over a rock stage in the 70´s. Great Job, great music! :)

Old time rock! This is really 70's. Power in guitars and vocals. A drummer who has to be heard. A strong lead guitar. You catch the time. Very well done!

Smoking good! This is rather exceptional. Just the right amount of rock, just the right amount of soul to make a classic!!
