Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
Yes I really did fall in love with her in Paris all those years ago, and I do remember precisely where, though I have never told her. This was created specially for the CBC French challenge September 2012 - thank you Jude for pushing us just that little bit further each time - we always expect the unexpected! I started off trying to do a sort of french Chanson but then it all went a bit Beatles as per. Anyway this is my picture of that most romantic of cities, hope you like it.
Lyrics
It was somewhere in Paris, I don't recall precisely where, Was it round Alma Marceau Or somewhere near there That I first discerned that Dappled autumn sunlight Burned like embers in your hair? Was it 'neath the Eiffel Tower On the languid Champs de Mars? Or when we walked one sunny Sunday In that gold October past To clip a lover's lock upon the fence At Pont des Arts? It was somewhere in Paris (I can't remember) Somewhere in that town (I wish I was) Somewhere in Paris (Falling for you) Somewhere Love is always Somewhere in Paris And Paris will always be Somewhere deep inside of me It was somewhere in Paris (I can't remember) Somewhere in that town (I wish I was) Somewhere in Paris (Falling for you) Somewhere Did we take the Metropolitain From Arts et Metiers? Or do a tour of Beaubourg On the way to Chatelet? Was that where I fell in love with you? I really couldn't say!

I really enjoyed this one. It's really Brit Pop and written in the style the Beatles used as well (sounding different). I like the mood it is bringing. Very nice one! Good sound!

Completely different to my own Brit Pop entry and I love it...maybe because you`re from the UK. Yes must depend on that fact...I`m just a Kraut

Very nice production, great music...but the best part is the song "story board" and the lyrics. Excellent craftsmanship here my friend!
Great song, Seth! Your vocal and lyrics are so "catchy" and took me, without doubt, "Somewhere In Paris". Your clever instrumentation/singing creates a happy beat that takes the honest listener into memories that should never end...Thanks for the nostalgia and the dl.

Brilliant. Love the note the vocals choose on 'somewhere'. A big big sound that's always in control and clean. What a great sound, top to bottom. Great lead guitar too. :)

An absolute stormer here Steve. And having taken the odd wrong turn or two in Paris myself I can totally relate to the subject matter. Next time I plan on taking a map, and maybe someone else ;)

Brilliant! Once more you deliver at the highest imaginable level in a limited time frame. Just unforgettable, the melodies, vibe, detail (those drums!!), and of course your piano, guitar work, and supreme vox...world class to the max, love this number!

What a great song considering there's no accordian! :) For someone who professes having trouble with lyrics you always deliver the best. Love the whole vibe. Magnifique, Steve!

Great lead and backing vocals! Superb production and arrangement, love that hint of retro - very professional sound. Great story - the whole track conveys a realistic scene that will appeal to a very wide audience. An excellent hit song.
